Local youth have demanded improvement in the services of the Jaleshwor Provincial Hospital. They have also alleged that they themselves are in trouble because of the officials of the hospital management committee where the patients are treated.

The Madhesh Provincial Government has arbitrarily tried to give responsibility back to the old leadership and the youth have submitted a memorandum to the acting chief of the Jaleshwor Provincial Hospital, Dr. Ravi Srivastava, on Friday to improve the hospital.

Local Navin Jha said that the local youth have protested saying that political squabbles, influence of vested interests and administrative weaknesses have seriously affected the service delivery of the hospital and that preparations are being made to re-appoint the old chairman, Minu Jha. Jha said that the hospital services are getting weaker day by day and political interference is increasing instead of improving them.

Chandan Tiwari, a youth who submitted the memorandum to raise awareness that the attempt to re-appoint the old person at a time when transparency and efficient leadership are needed in hospital management, risks further affecting the health service.

Despite having state-of-the-art equipment and a large building at Jaleshwor Provincial Hospital, the service is deteriorating day by day due to lack of manpower, failure to repair equipment, and government apathy. Patients are forced to return home without receiving treatment when equipment such as dialysis and ICU is not in use. Youth have demanded that the hospital be given leadership of a management committee that can improve it.

There is a provision for the chairman of the hospital management committee to be appointed by the provincial government. Local youth have demanded that the hospital be freed from political influence and provide effective health services.
