A district-level border coordination meeting has begun in Chandranigahpur, Rautahat between security officials from both countries to control criminal activities and resolve internal problems along the Nepal-India border.
The meeting, which began on Thursday afternoon, is attended by security officials including the Chief District Officers of Sitamarhi in India and Rautahat, Sarlahi and Mahottari in Nepal.
The meeting will discuss the issue of controlling cross-border crime and making border security effective through joint efforts, said Rautahat Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal.
The meeting is being attended by the Chief of Administration of Sitamarhi in India, Richay Pandey, Sitamarhi District Police Chief Amit Ranjan, Counselor of the Consulate General in Birgunj Manish Kumar Das, Commandant of the 20th Battalion of the SSB GC Pandey and other officials.
From Nepal, the Chief District Officer of Mahottari Indradev Yadav, Chief District Officer of Sarlahi Ramuraj Kadariya and the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of the same districts are participating.
Border officials from both countries have been continuing the coordination meetings for two decades. Security officials say that the meeting will discuss issues such as criminal smuggling, drug trafficking, and other issues in both countries.
