An all-party meeting including representatives of political parties in Parsa has said that issues related to social and religious beliefs seen in Birgunj metropolis should be addressed by maintaining social harmony.

An all-party and all-sectoral meeting held here today under the leadership of the District Administration Office, Parsa, has requested everyone to maintain social harmony. Nepali Congress Parsa Acting President Ram Narayan Kurmi expressed the view that the problems seen here recently should be resolved jointly by both communities.

‘Setting fire to the society is not in the interest of any party. Therefore, it is necessary for everyone to work together to maintain social harmony,’ he said. ‘I call for peace and harmony by maintaining the harmony that has been going on for centuries.’

National Independent Party Parsa President Hari Pant said that the long-term problem should be solved by maintaining social harmony under the leadership of Hindu priests and Muslim religious leaders, Maulana. ‘It is necessary for all parties to work together to resolve this problem that has been seen in Birgunj for the past two to four years,’ he said.

Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) Parsa Chairman Balgopal Thapa also complained that the current problems seen here are not original but are also caused by the tendency to learn from other places. 

Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) youth leader Tabrez Ahmed expressed the view that protests and other activities should not be held in Birgunj based on any incident that happened in a foreign country. ‘We are facing a lot of difficulties here by holding various types of protests and demonstrations in Birgunj based on incidents that happened in other countries,’ he said, ‘I request everyone to maintain Birgunj as a peace zone.’

Parsa Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said that he has been taking the initiative to maintain social harmony by coordinating and collaborating with all bodies. ‘Religious and social wars do not benefit anyone. Therefore, I request everyone to unite and help maintain peace.’
