Three municipalities, including Rajbiraj in Saptari, have declared a holiday for schools as the cold wave has started affecting normal life.
According to a notice issued here today by Rajbiraj Municipality Senior Education Officer Bhogendra Prasad Yadav, all schools across Rajbiraj Municipality have been given a holiday for the next three days. Schools will remain closed from Poush 16 to 18.
Similarly, Mahadeva and Agnisair Krishnasawaran Rural Municipality in the district have also given a holiday for three days from Poush 16 to 18. Mahadeva Rural Municipality Chairman Sunil Kumar Mandal issued a notice stating that the holiday has been given as the cold weather is adversely affecting the health of children.
Similarly, a notice signed by Agnisair Krishnasawaran Rural Municipality Acting Chairman Kalpana Kumari Chaudhary and Chief Administrative Officer Dhirendra Kumar Yadav states that a holiday has been given for three days in all community, religious and institutional schools under the municipality.
Earlier, Dakneshwari Municipality and Rajgadh Rural Municipality in the district have already given a holiday for five days in all private and community schools under the municipality. Both the municipalities have given a five-day holiday until Friday, Poush 18. In addition, Bodevarsain Municipality had also closed all its schools for the winter holidays. Schools were closed from Poush 9 to 13 citing the increasing cold.
Cold wave is affecting life in Saptari. Due to the mist in the morning and evening and the cold wind in the afternoon, children, the elderly, and even animals and livestock have been affected. Currently, the pressure of patients in various hospitals has increased due to the cold. It is reported that the number of patients coming to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj has increased daily. According to the hospital administration, patients with cold, fever, and asthma are especially coming here for treatment. The pressure of patients has increased in other health posts in the district.
