Parsa Police have arrested a youth involved in drug trafficking from Birgunj with a large quantity of marijuana. The arrested person has been identified as 28-year-old Subraj Shrestha of Khadadevi Rural Municipality-1 in Ramechhap district.

The police have seized 176 kg of marijuana from the pickup van (Ba 21 Cha  7855) used by Shrestha for marijuana smuggling. Parsa police held a press conference on Tuesday to make public the marijuana and the vehicle used for its smuggling.

At the press conference, Police Inspector Amrit Basnet said that based on a special information, a police team led by Senior Deputy Inspector Shyambabu Yadav from Police Post Sirsia stopped the pickup at 8 pm on Monday on the Grabel road section from Community Hospital Alou in Koniya, Birgunj-17, and checked it. The drug marijuana was found hidden in a sack with straw at the back of the vehicle.

A total of 176 kg of marijuana was found in 12 bags. Police Inspector Basnet said that Shrestha was taken into custody along with the marijuana and further investigation is underway.
