On Tuesday at 12:00 noon, a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Maheshpur Patar, seized seven hundred thousand rupees hidden in the trunk of a scooty with an Indian number plate BR 32 AD-8377, which was coming from India to Nepal, while checking it, Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Anantaram Sharma, informed.
According to Superintendent of Police Sharma, 46-year-old Dinesh Mahato of Bariyarpatti Rural Municipality-3, who was driving the scooty, was taken into custody on the spot. According to him, the investigation was tightened after surveillance was increased in the Bariyarpatti area for a few days.
In the same process, Mahato was stopped and a large amount of cash was found when the trunk was opened. Police say that further investigation is underway on the source, purpose and possible illegal transactions of the cash against the arrested Mahato. Police have stated that necessary legal proceedings will be initiated.
