The Chief Administrative Officer of Kalyanpur Municipality in Siraha has gone missing. Administrative Officer Deputy Secretary Kamal Bahadur Thapa has gone missing without informing anyone in the office.
Acting Mayor Rekha Yadav said that Thapa has not been in contact with the municipality since November 14 and has not informed her. 'He has not come to the office since November 14,' she said. 'He should have informed me at least when he went, but he did not.'
The Local Government Operation Act has a provision that an acting mayor must be appointed in the absence of the office mayor. However, Thapa has not appointed anyone as an acting mayor, which has affected the daily work of service recipients.
'Hundreds of people naturally come to the municipality for work every day, but in the absence of a Chief Administrative Officer, many service recipients are forced to return,' said local Kishori Yadav, 'He is rarely seen in the office.'
