A young man has died after being beaten up on charges of stealing a mobile phone. Mukesh Yadav, a resident of Fakira, Rajgadh Rural Municipality-6, and a resident of Boriya, Rajbiraj Municipality-16, died on Saturday, police said.
The 19-year-old Yadav died during treatment at the Chinnamasta Hospital in Rajbiraj, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Dambar Bahadur Puri of the District Police Office.
According to the police, the mobile phone of Sarokumari Sah, a neighbor in Boriya, had been lost two days ago. Yadav, who was injured after Sah beat him up after Mukesh claimed that he had stolen the mobile phone, died during treatment. The police said that an investigation into the incident is underway.
