Siraha - A gunshot was fired in Belha, Kalyanpur Municipality-12, Siraha at midnight. An unknown group of eight to ten people who had arrived in the village opened fire.

Local 50-year-old Birendra Mahato and his son 25-year-old Anil Mahato were seriously injured in the shooting. Both of them have been taken to Birat Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment.

Birendra was shot in the stomach and Anil was shot in the chest. The unidentified group arrived in the village at around 1 am. The group created a commotion when they reached the house of local Bhola Mahato.

Ward Chairman Dilip Yadav informed that when they tried to retaliate, they were shot at. According to him, they are Bhola's neighbors.

Siraha Chief District Officer Surendra Poudel said that a detailed investigation into the incident is underway. 'The injured have been sent to Biratnagar,' he told Kantipur, 'The police are investigating.'
