Youths affiliated with Gen-G Saptari locked the Nepal Drinking Water Corporation branch in Rajbiraj on Sunday afternoon, demanding that they be appointed as the office chief as per the vacancy.
They have been protesting after the transfer of the acting office chief of the corporation, Rajaram Yadav, and his appointment as an employee of the 5th level.
Earlier, last Friday, the youth had submitted a memorandum to the Secretary of the Ministry of Drinking Water and the Director General of the corporation through the Chief District Officer. They have locked the gate of the corporation, saying that the 7th level office chief has not been sent as per the vacancy.
‘When the office chief should have been transferred as per the vacancy, the 5th level employee has been transferred and the responsibility of the chief has been given to the 5th level employee again. That is completely wrong,’ said Gen-G youth Mustakim Alam, ‘The current one has already done a good job of keeping the 5th level head. Why was the transfer made?’
Yadav got the responsibility of acting after the transfer of the 8th level office chief in Bhadra 2081. The lockout occurred when Nimitti Yadav was transferred to Birgunj in Parsa and Dipendra Dev of the same level was given the responsibility of the acting chief again.
Although production and water distribution were continuing due to the lockout, administrative and other activities came to a standstill after 2 pm, said Ajay Bariyait (Yadav), Assistant Accounts Officer of the Sansthan Rajbiraj. Chief District Officer Tubaraj Pokharel said that coordination is being done with the youth regarding the unlocking of the lockout.
