Rautahat police have arrested two people in a land scam case and one absconding in a case of assault and mutilation.
The District Police Office, Gaur, has reported that Radha Krishna Upadhyay, 52, of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-8, has been arrested on charges of forging 24 plots of land measuring 9 bighas, 18 katthas, 15 dhurs in Katahariya Municipality-1 and registering them in his name. According to the District Police, the arrested Upadhyay had prepared fake documents by forging court decisions and letters, forging government seals and signatures, and had the land transferred to his name in a planned manner based on the forged decisions and letters. Keshar Prasad Poudel, had filed a complaint with the police some time ago. The police had already arrested Rampukar Mahato Koiri, 42, of Katahariya-1, on October 13 in the same land forgery case. Meanwhile, Birendra Raya Yadav of Bahu Arba village, Rajpur Municipality-1, who is absconding in a mutilation case, has been arrested on Friday. Yadav had beaten Gayatri Devi, a relative living in Bahu Arba village, with a bamboo stick on Kartik 20 with the intention of avenging her, police inspector Rudra Kandel said.
