A teenager who went to bathe in the Bagmati River, which flows through the border of Sarlahi and Rautahat, on the occasion of Kartik Purnima, has been found dead three days later.

Ashik Yadav, 14, of Khairwa, Ramnagar Rural Municipality-1, Sarlahi, had gone to bathe in the Bagmati River at around 6:30 am on Kartik 19. During the search, the family informed the police that Ashik's clothes were found on the banks of the Bagmati River. A nine-member diving team from the 2nd Battalion in Bardibas under the command of Deputy Inspector Surya Bahadur Shrestha also reached the spot. The team continued the search for two days, but Ashik was not found.

Three days after the incident, on Friday morning, the police said that Ashik's body was found on the banks of the Bagmati River in Pipara, Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality-2, Rautahat district. According to the police, the spot of incident is about 7 kilometers west-southwest of Khairwa Bahu Arwa. The District Police Office has stated that the necessary investigation is underway after taking the body's certificate.
