Armed Police Force Nepal Parsa and Revenue Investigation Office at Pathalaiya have seized 2,254 grams of gold and 10,354 grams of silver for allegedly evading customs and keeping them in warehouses.

On the basis of a special information, gold and silver of that amount was recovered from the house of Abhishek Sarraf at Maisthan located in Birgunj Mahanagar-8, where gold and silver were illegally evading customs.

Ganapati of Armed Police Force Nepal No. 13 Gana Headquarters and Superintendent of Armed Police Puranchandra Bhatt informed that the seized gold, silver and cash have been handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office. 

'On suspicion of importing gold and silver by evading customs, that amount of gold and silver was recovered during a raid on Monday,' he said.

The armed police have said that they have recovered 559.10 grams of what looks like gold and 550 grams of what looks like silver. Similarly, 1 lakh nine thousand Nepali rupees and 41 thousand 60 rupees have also been seized from the same warehouse.

Hariprasad Sharma, head of revenue investigation office at Pathalaiya, said that gold and silver testing and other investigations will be carried out. "After the investigation of the recovered gold and silver, the investigation process will proceed after the appointment of an investigation officer from the Revenue Investigation Department," he said. He said that the case will be prosecuted after looking at the necessary documents as the gold and silver was recovered based on the information of revenue leakage.
