Risk of flooding and inundation remains in Siraha

What you should know

Due to continuous rain, the risk of flooding and inundation remains in Siraha. Although there has been no major loss of life so far, the administration and security agencies are asking for high vigilance.

According to Chief Superintendent of Police Annataram Sharma of the District Police Office, traffic has been affected in some areas due to rain. Vehicles have been 'diverted' from Aurhi and Bariyarpatti Chowk due to the increase in the flow of water in Sahaja River under Hulaki Road. Police teams have been deployed at sensitive locations.

Chief District Officer Vasant Adhikari said that although the flow of water in rivers and streams such as Kamala, Gagan, Balan, Surrey, and Khutti is normal, there is a danger that the flow may increase at any time due to continuous rain. 'We are monitoring all risky areas. Citizens are requested to be cautious.'

A team including the chief district officer inspected the Kamala river area today. Pragya officials informed that a temporary dam was made using sacks filled with sand to prevent erosion in some risky places.

The local level here has also shown activity. Lahan Municipality Chief Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary today inspected Jhirhari Khola of Ward No. 16 and Sundarpur, Islampur Basti of Ward No. 4.

Mayor Choudhary informed that the municipality is working to drain the waterlogged places.

Similarly, the local administration has asked the residents around rivers and streams to be alert and to go to safe places if they feel danger.
