The farmers of Madhesh have not been able to get fertilizer even from agricultural material companies and salt trading.
During the Gen-G movement, the agricultural materials of Raxaul and Sirsia, which were stuck at the dry port, have started entering the warehouse of DAP Fertilizer Company in Birganj.
Durga Prasad Pandey, head of the company's regional office Birganj, said that the fertilizer company brought by Aditya Birla Company and India's IPL Company from the global tender has started to enter. It was blocked, now that the situation has returned to normal, the fertilizer continues to flow in.'
Currently, the quota of 7,000 tons of urea fertilizer available with the provincial office of the company has been allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture, and the cooperatives of 8 districts of Madhesh have also started applying their own quota of fertilizer, he said. "The demand for urea is still there," he said.
He said that the stock of urea fertilizer will run out with the office. But Pandey said that the 30,000 tons of urea that the company is going to import from a third country through the global tender is in the unloading process at the Kolkata port.
He said that there is a possibility that this fertilizer will be packed in sacks in Kolkata and come to Nepal from October 9 to 10. At that time there will be a holiday of Dasain. By that time, the demand for urea fertilizer will be almost over. By the time the quota is reached, it will be too late .
At present, there is an extreme shortage of urea fertilizer in the districts of Madhesh. Farmers have not been able to get fertilizer even from companies and salt trading. Since it is not possible to buy fertilizer from India due to the strictness of the Indian government, some farmers have used DAP fertilizer as an alternative to urea fertilizer.
