Cholera patients have been found in the new village of Murli located in Virgunj Mahanagar-12. Teams from Birganj Mahanagar, Health Office Parsaka and other agencies have been mobilized since Friday night.

Rajeshman Singh, head of Birgunj metropolis, informed that as soon as the cholera patients were found, health workers were mobilized in the affected areas. According to Birganj Mahanagar, more than 30 people from Murli tol were admitted to Terai Hospital in Birganj due to diarrhea. 

The hospital informed the Birgunj metropolis after a large number of patients came. During the coordinated tests of Narayani Hospital Birgunj and Health Office Parsa, cholera bacteria were found in three patients. 

Birganj Mahanagara Health Branch Chief Raju Shah informed that among the three patients who were infected with cholera, one of the juveniles is in critical condition. Among the infected are a 16-year-old teenager, a 24-year-old youth and a 24-year-old woman.

Likewise, it is said that the sample of drinking water being used in the houses of Murli tol has been sent to the laboratory in Teku, Kathmandu for further testing. According to the metropolis, to prevent the spread of cholera and to warn the locals, a team of health workers has been going door-to-door and spreading public awareness since Friday night. Jaymod Thakur, Public Health Officer of Health Office Parsa, said that after last 10 years cholera outbreak has appeared in Birganj. 

Mayor Singh has requested everyone not to be negligent in its prevention as cholera is a serious infectious disease. Narayani Hospital Birganj spokesperson Dr. Udayanarayan Singh informed that patients with severe diarrhea are being treated in the emergency department of Narayani Hospital.
