The District Disaster Management Committee has curbed the indiscriminate digging of deep borings in the drought-affected district Parsa. The meeting held at the district administration office on Saturday evening of the committee decided that before installing deep boring in the district, it is mandatory to get a recommendation with permission from the committee.

The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Ganesh Aryal, Chairman of the Committee and Chief District Officer of Parsa. Heads of various government offices dealing with disasters also participated in the meeting. Prazia Aryal said that since deep boring is done in a random manner in the district, permission has to be obtained for its control.

In this way, the general meeting of the committee held at the district administration office under the chairmanship of Prazia Aryal on Sunday has taken further decisions in this regard and has tried to improve the water supply and irrigation conditions in the district. In the decisions of the

committee, collecting the data of pipes and deep borings connected from other bodies including the Water Supply Corporation, identifying areas with water shortage, water supply in areas where the need has been identified. To prepare a concept paper, to identify the areas that actually lack water supply and to connect the necessary number of water with a minimum capacity of 5000 liters and in this work, UNICEF Nepal and District Coordination Committee in coordination with Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality within seven days. Within 24 hours, the Nepal Electricity Authority will install electricity meters, conduct a campaign in coordination with UNICEF Nepal for economical use of drinking water and clean drinking water, and proceed with the cleaning of the Gandak canal with urgency.
