Two people were electrocuted while trying to irrigate the fields with a water pump in Madhavnarayan and Kataharia municipalities of Rautahat on Wednesday.

Madhavanarayan Municipality-4 Visunpurwa Manpur Rambabu Mukhiya, 40, died of electrocution while using an electric motor to irrigate his farm, informed the area police office Garuda.

Mukhiya, who was seriously injured due to electric shock, was immediately brought to the provincial hospital in Gaur for treatment. After reaching the hospital, the doctor declared him dead. The dead chief's body has been kept at the Provincial Hospital Gaur for post-mortem. DSP Rajan Karki of the local police Garuda said that necessary investigation is being carried out on the incident.

Similarly, 52-year-old Moktar Dewan of Katharia Municipality-2 Jamunia died due to electrocution while operating an electric motor for irrigation, police said. Dewan, who was electrocuted, was brought to Grandi Hospital in Garuda for treatment, and the doctor declared him dead.

The body of the deceased has been sent to the provincial hospital for post-mortem. Due to the negligence of the authorities and the weakness of the service users, the cases of death of common people due to electric shock are increasing in Madhesh province.
