There was a clash between two sides in Siraha prison. On Sunday morning, there was a clash between the prisoners who were running the internal administration and a group of other prisoners. According to the police, 13 prisoners were injured in the clash.

Chetraj Baral, Assistant Chief District Officer of Siraha, said that they are being treated at the provincial hospital in Siraha. He said that more investigation is being done regarding the

incident. "Currently, work is being done to bring the injured to the hospital and give them treatment," he said, "The cause of the dispute is being investigated."

According to prison sources, acting watchman Vijay Mahato and his group, who were running the internal administration of the prison, were illegally collecting money from the inmates in the case of duty killing who were also injured in the scuffle.

A prisoner said that there was a clash between two groups on this issue. "We had also complained about this to the relevant authorities, but the extortion did not stop," said the prisoner, "since there was no hearing from anywhere, the clash happened today."

The internal administration of the Siraha prison deals with alcohol and drugs, illegal extortion under various pretexts has been made public before. An inquiry committee was formed under the command of DSP of Nepal Police on that matter. The

committee submitted a report recommending legal action against more than a dozen prisoners, including officers assigned to the prison's security and surveillance. However, the Siraha administration has been hesitating to implement the said report.
