'We worry about water in the evening and in the morning'

There are 150 families living in Dhangadhimai Municipality-13 Bharnaini. Because the water level is low in this settlement area, there is no handing. This settlement is running on the basis of two borings done by the municipality.

According to local Radha Ram, until now, water was supplied to homes through pipes. However, both those borings have started giving very less water since two weeks. Because of this, water has stopped coming in the stream. Since then, the locals come to the boring place to get water.

Devaki Mochi, a local, says that she had to wait for her turn to get water. "It is not easy to get water even in a boring place. You have to stand in line, it takes half an hour to stand in line," she said.

Local Suraj Mahara says that the water level in this area has gone down and in recent years, when there has been a drought instead of a monsoon, the same problem has been repeated. "Lately, water has become a major problem for us," he told Kantipur, "The leaders keep making promises, but our problem has not been solved."

'We worry about water in the evening and in the morning' President of Dhangadhimai-13 Suryaman Tamang said that a tank has been built for the long-term solution to the water supply problem in this area and now the pipeline expansion work remains.

This kind of water problem is not only here but also in other places of the district. Rajkumar Yadav of Golbazar says that there is more water problem in the northern region than the highway. According to him, the citizens of the northern belt of Lahan Municipality, Dhangadhimai Municipality, Golbazar Municipality, Mirchaiya Municipality and Karjanha Municipality are currently facing more water problems. He says that this problem has been caused by random mining.

'We worry about water in the evening and in the morning' Not only the life of common people is affected by the water problem, farmers are also affected. Farmers' fields are barren due to lack of timely rains and lack of proper irrigation system. Half of the rice seeds prepared for sowing have been destroyed. Farmers are worried after the seeds dry up.

'We worry about water in the evening and in the morning' According to Directorate of Agricultural Development, Madhesh Province, only 33.78 percent of paddy has been planted in Madhesh so far. In Madhesh province, paddy is cultivated in an area of 372 thousand 645 hectares. The directorate said that so far this year only 1 lakh 25 thousand 888 hectares have been planted.
