Rescue of five Nepali workers from Gujarat, India

Five Nepali laborers who were facing uncomfortable conditions in Gujarat, India have been safely rescued.

Five laborers from Saptari district Tirhut rural municipality and Hanumannagar Kankalni municipality working at Ramdev Coldstore in Johrapura village of Gujarat, India were rescued and handed over to their families.   

According to Vijay Yadav, President of Tirhut Rural Municipality, five people including 60-year-old Sakaldev Sada of Tirhut-4 and 28-year-old Chandan Khang and Shailendra Sada of Hanumannagar Kankalini-8, who were subjected to labor exploitation in the work area, were subjected to mental and physical torture including beatings and instead of giving wages as per the contract, were rescued safely.

Chairman Yadav said that they were rescued with the help and coordination of Nepal National Musahar Association and the activism of cyber security analyst Kumar Abhinav, who was also a media person in the work of rescuing the victimized workers and bringing them to Nepal.

Shivdev Sada, President of Nepal National Musahar Association, Saptari, said that with the special support and coordination of the local officials of Johrapura in Gujarat and Yadav, Chairman of Saptari Tirhut Rural Municipality, five Nepalese laborers were successfully brought to Nepal with the activeness of journalist and engineer Abhinav.
