Rautahat police arrested one person on Thursday with an undisclosed amount of money. Police found more than 1.2 million in cash when a young man was stopped and checked in front of the Gaur customs office, who was coming from the border Bairagania market on a motorcycle with an Indian number.
Rudra Kandel, Police Inspector of the District Police Office informed that the police arrested 39-year-old Chandan Pandit, a resident of Ramnagar Rural Municipality-2 in Sarlahi, with an undisclosed amount of money.
When Pandit was coming towards Gaur with a bag, when suspicious activity was noticed, he was stopped and checked, and 12 lakh 73 thousand 300 rupees were found in the bag. Police said that among them, he had 9 lakh 28 thousand 500 Nepalese rupees and 2 lakh 15 thousand Indian rupees.
Pandit was arrested after he did not show any document to reveal the source of the money.
The police have also recovered the Indian motorcycle number BR 03 J 9543 that Pandit was riding. Rautahat District Police Office said further investigation is underway.
