Only 42 percent of the development budget is spent in Parsa

With only a week and a half left for the end of the financial year, only 42 percent of the development budget has been spent in Parsa. From July to June of the current financial year, only 41.74 percent of the development budget has been spent by the office related to the development of the district.

According to the Office of the Comptroller of the Treasury and Accounts Parsa, during this period  Only 1 billion 34 crore 41 lakh 93 thousand  799 rupees 88 paise has been spent out of the total development (capital) budget of 2 billion 75 crore 83 lakh 82 thousand 750 rupees.

The offices related to development under the federal government have not been able to spend the development budget. Birganj, the intensive urban and building construction project with the largest development budget, has spent only 41.55 million rupees out of 1.35 billion 76 million 19 thousand 750.  

Postal Highway Planning Office Birgunj, which has a development budget of 31.65 million rupees, has spent only 19.96 million rupees during this period. The Federal Water Supply and Sewerage Management Project, which has a development budget of 45 million 28 million rupees, has spent only 218 million rupees. Narayani Irrigation Management Division, which has a development budget of 17.9 million rupees, has spent only 10.68 million rupees.

The current budget of the district is 11.5 billion 64 lakh rupees, 88.43 percent has been spent by Wednesday. Generally, the current budget is spent on employee salaries and allowances and grants to the local level.  

Basant Guragai, the Information Officer of the Office of the Controller of Funds and Accounts, Parsa, says that the budgets that have been transferred to some offices are received late and such budgets cannot be spent. He said that since June 32 this year, the government offices will be able to spend the budget until June 25. He said that there is a provision in the Financial Procedures and Financial Responsibility Act 2070 that the budget can be spent up to 7 days before the month of Asar is paid.

Looking at the current situation, by June 25, there is a possibility that the district government office will be able to spend only 50 to 55 percent of the development budget, he said.
