Since June, two people have been found infected with corona at the health desk on the Nepal-India border in Birganj. According to Sumanchandra Thakur, the officer of the Health Division of Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality, both of those who were found to be corona positive are Indian men.

"Both of them were corona positive Indian men," he said. Thakur said that both the Corona positive Indians have been sent back to their country.

In the first week of June, the desk received 20 corona test kits from the Communicable Disease Epidemic Control Division, Kathmandu. On January 25, 2080, the desk was without a kit after the kit ran out.

20 kits are used to test the health of 20 suspected persons. But he said that even in the case of suspicion, only those suffering from cold and fever were instructed to conduct a health check-up with the kit and they are doing it accordingly.

In the context of the rapid expansion of the corona infection in India, there is a high risk of the entry of corona infected people through this checkpoint due to the limited number of kits in the desks of the country's major checkpoints.

For almost 3 years, the process of finding corona infected people at the health desk here has been almost at a standstill. Out of that, since there was no kit for 16 months, the test was also closed.

Until the fourth wave of corona infection spread, most of the Indians who were confirmed to be infected while entering Nepal through this border were coming to work in Nepal, on business trips and some were going to come to Nepal for tourism and pilgrimage purposes.

In the past too, there is a trend of simultaneous occurrence of corona infection in India and Nepal, so this time too, the possibility of corona infection appearing soon in Nepal has increased. There is a strong possibility that the fifth wave of Corona, which appeared in India after 3 years, will soon affect Nepal.

There is a direct train connection from Raxaul, a neighboring city of Birgunj, to Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Banaras and other big cities of India, so there is a high risk of corona infection entering Nepal through this crossing. Even in the latest wave of corona, corona infection was seen in the people who came from Kolkata, Delhi, Ghaziabad etc. in India. Later, corona infection was seen in those coming from all states of India.

In the coming month of July, the number of religious tourists coming from Orissa and Kolkata to visit Pashupatinath will be more. Even in the fourth wave, more corona infections were confirmed among the pilgrims there.
