Snakebite cases increased in Mahottari

With the beginning of June, the incidence of snakebite has started to increase after it started raining. Since the day of Asar Sankranti, the number of snake bites has increased in Mahottari with the rains.

Within the first week of June, 25 snakebite patients have come for treatment at Bardibas Snakebite Treatment Center. Bhola Chowdhury, the technical chief who participated in the treatment team of the Nepali Army through the center, said that after the rains started, the cases of snakebites increased in Terai districts. 

'Incidents increase at this time when the snake comes out of the hole after the summer and rains. He said, "Snakes come out when the air is hot in the summer and when it is full of water during the rains, and the incidence of snakebites increases during this time.", he said.

According to the center, snakebite cases are increasing in July because it usually rains more in July. Chaudhary, the technical head of the center, urged everyone to take necessary precautions from Baisakh as the snakes will come out of the den due to rain and high heat.

The center, which came into operation on 31st July 2071, has given treatment to 31 thousand 307 people so far. It is mentioned in the statistics of the center that 160 people have received treatment since Vaisha this year. According to the center, out of 52 incidents in Baisakh and 85 incidents in May, 65 were bitten by poisonous snakes.

The 'anti-snake vial' used in the treatment of snakes and the management board of the office operation management center and the treatment is being done by skilled technicians trained by the Nepali Army.

According to Krishna Devkota, chairman of the board of directors of the center, it has been found that snakes have decreased in the wards of Bardibas municipality-1, 2, 3 and 14 as compared to the past. He says that with the increase in land mining and house building everywhere, the number of poisonous snakes is decreasing here compared to 10 years ago.
