In the hot sun on Thursday, at the main gate of the High Court Janakpur, Rajviraj bench, 40/45 co-opted women were sitting on the floor and waiting for the verdict. After the co-operative society embezzled the money they have been saving for 12/15 years, they are wandering in the hope of getting the money for a year.
After getting information that the case of Rampreet Yadav, president of Everest Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited, located in Lahan Municipality-8 of Siraha, who embezzled savings money, was being heard, they hurriedly came to Rajviraj from different places of Siraha and Saptari with hungry stomachs. However, after not being allowed to enter the court, they sat on the ground at the gate until the evening.
8 members of our group have been saving for 12 years after being asked to return twice the amount in 15 years, but a year ago they refused to return the savings, 55-year-old Janakidevi Mandal of Siswa, Bode Barsain Municipality-1, Saptari said, "From the beginning, they were telling me not to save at home. Later, they have been scolding me for not returning the savings and have to stay at home for a year, but the savings have not yet been decided." He says that until a year ago, he saved 500 to 2000 rupees per person per month.
60-year-old Chetandevi Chaudhary of Shambhunath Municipality-7 Kathuna had also been saving Rs 250 per month for 9 years. "I kept an additional 25,000 rupees in a fixed deposit for 25 years in the name of the child, but the cooperative is not accepting to return the savings," she said.
48-year-old Lalitadevi Ram of Surunga Municipality-2 Kamalpur had also been saving in the cooperative for 15 years. "Those who cheat the poor, save a little (150) a month to fulfill their family responsibilities, but when they withdraw the money, they say that the cooperative has drowned. We are destitute," she said, "We need money. I am tired of asking for my own money back, where should I go now?"
While waiting for the court's verdict, all those victimized women were telling their problems and demanding to get back the money they had saved in the cooperative. According to them, 2,500 savers have been cheated by the cooperative, which was established in the financial year 057/058, with the slogan 'Today's savings tomorrow's support'.
5 crore bail request to the chairman of cooperatives
After not getting back the savings, 349 victims Rampreet Yadav, president of Everest Savings and Loans Cooperative Society Limited, filed a complaint regarding cooperative fraud against .
On October 16, 2081, the Sirha District Court ordered Yadav to be jailed for trial in the same complaint.
Yadav, who has been in jail since then, appealed to the High Court Janakpur, Rajviraj Bench on 29th January 2081, making the Government of Nepal a respondent. Harishankar Mahato informed the information officer of the court that the order of the Sirha District Court has been annulled and a bail of Rs 5 crore has been demanded from Chairman Yadav in the same case.
The decision was made by the joint bench of High Court judge Koshalchandra Suvey and Purnaprasad Rajvanshi. It is mentioned in the missal that President Yadav has embezzled a total of 74 million 40 thousand 609 rupees.
