The family members and relatives of Rajesh Kumar Yadav, who was being treated in the hospital for four and a half months after he was hit by a Scorpio in Rajviraj municipality of Saptari, have sat on an indefinite relay hunger strike at the municipal office on Wednesday demanding medical expenses.
On the 1st of January last Tuesday, a Scorpio with number 1 Jh 481 located in Bode Barsain Municipality-5 of the district hit a motorcycle with number 30 P 2737 under Hulaki highway. 15-year-old Rajesh of Bode Barsain-1 Ghangadi, who was seriously injured in the collision, was admitted to Birat Nursing Home Biratnagar for further treatment.
Yadav's father Raghunath Yadav said that he has been undergoing treatment for four and a half months. "So far, 2.7 lakh has been spent on treatment, but the municipality has given only two lakh rupees," he said, "because he has no money, he is unable to discharge his son from the hospital." "People's representatives including Acting Mayor Israt Praveen are unwilling to pay more for the treatment," he said, "We will continue to fast until the treatment is paid."
Another 21-year-old Ajit Kumar Yadav who was riding a motorcycle was also injured in the same accident. He has returned home after treatment.
