Manmat-Matiarwa road in Bara is certain not to be built before monsoon

It has been confirmed that the construction of the incomplete 4 km road on the Manmat-Matiarwa road section of Bara will not be completed before the rains after the contractor company has indicated its inability to work financially and technically.

Engineer Dharmendra Kumar Das of Hulaki Highway Directorate Planning Office Birganj said that the contractor Om Sai & Co./Saptakoshi Watershed Joint Venture Company has delayed the work and is unable to work due to lack of manpower, equipment and money.

'When asked about the contractor company, its representative is replying that there is a lack of manpower, equipment and money,' Das said, 'With the lack of these three things, the work on the site cannot proceed.' 68 km is left to be blacked out. The road section has been incomplete for 4 years after the locals did not vacate the site demanding compensation.

The road section from Bharat Chowk to Sanskar FF under Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city which is currently under construction, after the contractor company started the work 2 months ago and left it unfinished, the public has been suffering a lot in traffic. The contract was signed by the company for 223 million 3186 thousand 318 rupees on 27th January 2078. According to the

contract, the contractor company should have completed the work by January 1, 2079. After not being able to work on the contract date, the contractor company could not complete the work even by the second deadline of February 29, 2081.

So far, Engineer Das said that only 17 percent progress has been made as the contractor company has continued the construction of road side drains at the site. He said that the office has withdrawn the guarantee amount of Rs.548 million and the mobilization amount of Rs.188 million.

The residents of Kalaiya have repeatedly demonstrated pressure for the construction of this unfinished road. The issue of this road section has been raised several times in the Federal Parliament.

Saroj Sah of Kalaiya Siddheshwar says that it is sad that the contractor company is not completing the work under various pretexts when the compensation dispute in the past has ended and the site is almost empty. "Because of this road section, we have been suffering for the last three years," he said.

Homanath Gautam, the official representative of the contractor company, could not be contacted to get a response in this regard.
