During the joint market monitoring led by Commercial Supply and Consumer Protection Office Birganj and Local Administration Office Lahan Sirha, it was found that most of the shops' businesses were not registered, registered businesses were not renewed, there were no purchase and sale invoices and price lists were not kept.
The monitoring team has imposed fines on such shops. A fine of 20,000 has been imposed on Anita General Stores, 15,000 on Samaya Traders, 10,000 on Shyam Electrol and 5,000 on Ma Enterprises.
Similarly, Mahaveer Vastralay, Baba Fancy Stores, Nitis Traders and Suppliers, Vivek Sucenter, Priya General Stores, Om Kirana, Harekrishna Imperium and Orchid Cafe have been alerted for the first time with a general warning.
According to Gokarna Raj Suyal, the head of the Lahan area administration office, the operators of these shops have been instructed to keep the price list in the shop within three days and to submit the necessary documents to the area administration office. Chief Suyal said that if the businessmen fail, action will be taken according to the law.
Likewise, Maduresh Prasad Sah, the representative of Commercial Supply and Consumer Protection Office Parsa Birganj, said that in the first monitoring of the market, those selling non-food items were alerted and from the second round of monitoring, the businessmen selling non-food items will be prosecuted according to the law.
