Celebrating Janaki Navami, today is a holiday in Madhesh

Janaki Navami is being celebrated in Janakpur on Tuesday on the occasion of the birthday of Sita, who is believed to have been born from the soil when King Janak plowed the plow in the Treta Yuga.

A week-long program has been organized on the occasion of Janaki Navami at Janaki temple in Janakpur. According to Mahant Ramroshan Das, heir of Janaki Mandir, the main program of Janaki Navami will be held at Janaki Mandir on Tuesday. 

"All the preparations for Janaki Navami have been completed," he said, "There will be special aarti, tableaux and religious programs along with Mangaldhun throughout the day." To participate in Janaki Navami, Swami Rambhadracharya has arrived in Janakpur from India on Monday. 

Dozens of Indian sadhus and saints are participating with Swami Rambhadracharya who came to Janakpur by Namo Radhwaya bus. On the occasion of Janaki Navami, the Madhesh state government has declared a public holiday in Madhesh on Tuesday. The mahant of Janaki temple and other sadhus and saints have been demanding a holiday on Janaki Navami across the country.
