The members of the martyr's family staged a dharna at Madhesh Bhavan. They staged a dharna in front of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Communications inside the Madhesh Building on Sunday, demanding employment for the martyr's family.
Awadhesh Prasad Pattel, the father of Martyr Chandan Pattel of Bara informed that he started the dharna with the demand that members should be appointed to the vacant posts of the Madhesi Martyrs Foundation, that every martyr's family should be employed and that everyone should have health insurance. According to him, two member positions were vacant in the institute last February. However, he said that the Madhesh state government has not shown any interest in appointing members so far.
We have also registered an application for the appointment of a member. While meeting with the Chief Minister and the Minister, he asked for a week's time,'' he said, 'but even today, no interest has been taken. He says that Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh and Home and Communications Minister Rajkumar Lekhi have ignored the demands of the martyr's family.
Even though the previous government had given employment to one martyr family through an employment program, the current government is moving ahead with the process of removing the martyr family. Pattel said that most of the members were removed from monthly salary and placed on daily wages. He said that health insurance has not been extended so far. He said that although Ramnaresh Rai Madhesh, a member of the foundation, was found dead inside the building, they were not given any clear information from the government. Minister Rajkumar Lekhi responded that all demands are in process and will take some time.
