Stakeholders have expressed serious concern that drug use and dealing in Siraha is taking a sinister form. In the interaction program organized by the District Administration Office, Siraha in Mirchaiya on Sunday, the stakeholders expressed their concern about this.
They said that especially in the villages of Madhesh, drug users and their dealings have increased and this is taking the society further back. Shravan Kumar Yadav, Mayor of Mirchaiya Municipality, said that drugs have become a major concern for the society and the country.
'Drugs are pushing society further back, users and their business have flourished in villages, this is a major concern now,' he said, 'it seems that the state and state mechanisms are failing to control it.'
The chief district officer of Siraha, Vishwaprakash Aryal, said that the growing problem of drug addiction is having a serious impact from national security to social structure. "Drugs are becoming a serious challenge not only for our country, but for the entire society," he said.
Narcotics addiction is creating a situation of breaking up families, destroying youth power and increasing criminal activities, according to Chief Superintendent of Police Anantaram Sharma of District Police Office, Siraha. 'Continuous operations have been conducted by the police to control drug dealing and addiction,' he said, 'but society needs to be awakened.'
Likewise, the program has also discussed the issue of making the services flowing from the local level more agile and efficient. The interaction has concluded that the government agencies should move forward in coordination and this will lead to improvement in service delivery.
