The house of a Dalit Musahar family was demolished to make way for a community building in Rajgarh Village-4 Jamua Tol of Saptari under the instructions of the local people's representatives and in the presence of the police.

Even though the ward president Ashok Kumar Sah had encroached on the public land at the place where the Musahar house was being demolished and a community building was being constructed, the house of the Musahar community was demolished to protect the public land that he was using.

Ward president Sah had started building a community building in front of his own house, so as to protect the public land he encroached on, he demolished Ranjan Kumari Sada's house of Musahar community with JCB in the presence of the police on March 26. From the rural road in Rajgarh 4 Jamua, there is the house of West Ward Head Sah. There is a deal of public pool east of the road. The land of this deal is public announcement.

There are 40 families living in the village of Pohri, but on the side of the road, the Ward Chairman Sah has been trespassing and using them.

In front of his own house, Ward Chairman Sah has built a small shed in addition to putting up a straw roof in front of the public pond. Similarly, by installing a motor to draw water on the same public land, the ward president has been enjoying the land.

Ranjankumari Sada, the victim, said that when preparations were made to build a community building in the Dill of the pond, she was forced to demolish her house in the presence of the police on March 26, in order to protect her land on the side of the road to build a community building.

Ward president Sah claimed that he had given land for the construction of a community building from the land he was enjoying. He clarified that the community building was started to be built a little east of the road because the locals thought of keeping some land vacant in front of the community building.

Ranjan Kumari, who was upset after the Ward President Sah forcibly demolished the house in the public pool of Jamua Tol, which had been living there since the time of his father, without their consent. Ranjan Kumari said, "Neither did I give any prior notice nor any alternative arrangement," said Ranjan Kumari. "Four days after that, the ward head and the people he mobilized forcibly demolished the house, everyone preys on the weak," she said.

Ashok Kumar Sah, the ward president of Rajgarh-4, claimed that Ranjan Kumari's house was demolished with everyone's consent for the construction of a community building. "If the society decided to build a community building at that place, we did not do it alone," Ward President Sah said, "Maybe the society will answer why that place was chosen, but I will not give it." But he says that the house was demolished after it was not built.  Ward president Sah said, "After the local society decided, the tower was removed with a dozer." Ward president Sah claimed that Ranjan Kumari's house is still there.

Ward president Sah claims that there is a great need for a community building at that location. But Ranjan Kumari does not always agree with the claims of the ward president. She says, "Who was notified, they did not let us know, suddenly they came with a dozer to demolish the house, we could not even remove the grain, it is still there." The only house I lived in was that house, I used to live in that house with my four children.' But Ranjan Kumari has been living separately from her mother-in-law. "Nandas live in my mother-in-law's house, after destroying the house where we have been living for a long time, where should I go with my four sons?" she expressed her pain.

According to Ward Chairman Sah, a community building is going to be constructed at that location through the consumer committee with a budget of Rs 50 lakh from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development of the Madhesh State Government.

On March 29, Ranjandebi submitted a petition to the Chief District Officer demanding justice and action against the culprits saying that the house was forcibly demolished. In his application, Prazia Bhola Dahal ordered the name of the District Police Office Saptari to coordinate with the concerned municipality and facilitate necessary investigations.

"My husband and father-in-law have been living in Ailani Pokhari Deel located in Rajgarh Rural Municipality 4 since the age of Baraje, without the consent of any member of my family and when my husband and father-in-law went to India to earn money, in the presence of two policemen from the area police office, Pathhargadha, they forcibly demolished the house wearing JCB.

Prajia Dahal called the ward president and village head and told them to make an alternative arrangement for Ranjan Kumari immediately. "If there is no house to live in, I have told the municipal president and the ward president for alternative arrangements, I have also told the police to find out more", said Prazia Dahal.

SP Dhakendra Khatiwada of Saptari has said that he has received information that the ward office has demolished a house on public land to make a community building. "When the ward office decided to vacate the public open land, two policemen from the area police office Pathargadha went there when the police asked for it," SP Khatiwada said, "There was no police involved in the demolition, we are investigating further."

Promise to build a new house

Ranjan Kumari's house has been demolished and now a hole is being dug for a community building. After the issue of the demolition of the house for the construction of the community building came out, Ward President Sah has assured that a new house will be built next to the place where the house was.

The ward president Sah, who met at the same place on Wednesday, said, 'We will build a new house for Ranjan Kumari. "We are going to build Ranjan Kumari's house next door by putting cement poles and a zinc roof on top," said Ward President Sah, "In two or three days, the work of building her house will also start."
