It has been revealed that the police fired 2 rounds of aerial fire and 125 rounds of tear gas in Birganj after tension was created during the procession of Hanuman Jayanti.

An unknown group pelted stones on the participants of the procession while returning from Ghantaghar to Shriram Chowk in Virgunj-3 Chhapkaiya. After that, the scattered participants staged a demonstration by burning tires and took out shop furniture and burnt it.

SP Gautam Mishra said that 2 rounds of aerial fire and 125 rounds of tear gas had to be fired for control after the situation became tense. In the process, 25 security personnel including DSP of Mishra and Armed Police and about a dozen local residents were injured.

Curfew has been imposed in Birganj now. District Administration Office Parsa has issued a curfew order in the main market area of Birganj from 6:30 pm to 12 noon tomorrow.

A procession is held here every year on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
