Stale and expired materials have been seized from a hotel named Janakpur. Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Satish Kumar Singh, while inspecting hotels in Janakpur, found impure materials that affect human health.
A team from Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperative Ministry, Food Technology and Quality Control Office and Home and Small Industries Office along with Chief Minister Singh monitored more than a dozen hotels in Janakpur on Sunday night.
Santosh Sah, Head of Household and Small Industries Office, said that the kitchen rooms are not clean and organized according to the standards in the hotels of Janakpur. According to him, 11 packets of frozen milk without mention of producer's name, product and expiry date have been seized and destroyed from Hansraj Sweet. Similarly, a bucket of stale vegetables, worm-infested pulses and vegetables kept in the open from New Janki View Hotel, 10 kg of worm-infested flour from Lakshmi Misthan Bhandar were confiscated and destroyed, said Sah. These are vegetarian hotels located around the Janaki temple.
Chief Minister Singh said that he started monitoring after hearing complaints that clean, hygienic and healthy food is not available in some hotels in Janakpur. He said that hotel monitoring has been started with the aim of ensuring the rights of consumers in the production, distribution and consumption of safe and clean food. He said that the related government mechanism will continue to monitor the hotel .
