The government office heads of Birganj have committed to remove the structures that fall under the jurisdiction of the road immediately. Heads of relevant government offices in the road sector made this commitment in a meeting organized by Birganj Metropolitan Municipality on Tuesday. The Supreme Court had ruled in favor of the expansion of the main road of Veiganj on February 28.
Now the structure that is within 25/25 meters to the right and left of the main road is going to be demolished. Earlier, Birgunj Customs Office, Narayani Irrigation Office and Nepal Bank Limited City Office have demolished their structures within the road jurisdiction.
Birganj Mayor Rajeshman Singh said that if government offices remove their structures in the first phase, it will be easier to implement the Supreme Court's decision. According to the order of the court, the road expansion will proceed in collaboration with the road division office. In the meeting, there was a discussion about the technical aspects including the process of determining road boundaries and removing structures without interrupting the flow of public services.
Ram Prasad Sharma of Nepal Telecom said that it will take some time to manage the sensitive equipment and networking wires of the telecom. He said that the office will manage it so that there is no problem for the customers. The Nepal Electricity Authority has said that the poles will be relocated to facilitate the road expansion work.
Similarly, the water supply office has also committed to provide technical and material support for pipeline management. Although the road boundary has already been determined, the signs have been deleted in some places. It has been decided that the marking work will be done within a week by the surveyors and goods office under the leadership of Road Division Office Hetauda.
