A fire broke out in Kanchanrup Municipality-4 Kabilasa of Saptari on Saturday evening. A cow, four goats and three goats were burnt to death in the zinc-roofed shed of local Bhagwat Biswas due to a fire that was lit to drive away mosquitoes, according to the Kanchanpur Police Office of Ela.
Five quintals of paddy kept in the barn were also burnt. The fire, which started at 6:20 PM on Saturday evening, was brought under control after half an hour with the help of Kanchanrup Municipality fire department, police and local residents.
On Saturday, there was a sudden fire in the forest near Lakshmipur Sub Division Forest Office located in Surunga Municipality-3, and firewood worth Rs 250,000 was burnt and destroyed. Police said that the fire was brought under control with the help of fire engines, security personnel and local residents.
