Police personnel are not allowed to use mobile phones while on duty in Saptari district.
The District Police Office has implemented a provision that police other than commanders are not allowed to use mobile phones while on duty. While deployed, commanders will also be allowed to use mobile phones only for duty work if necessary. Saptari SP Dhakendra Khatiwada informed that the use of mobile phones by the police while on
duty could not be effective in security monitoring, as the police themselves could be insecure when they focus on mobile phones.
This provision has been strictly implemented by the District Police Office Saptari. In the afternoon and at night, the district police have sent a separate team to check whether the policemen on duty have mobile phones.
The use of mobile phones during police duty has been banned after complaints that the policemen on duty spend a long time gossiping on their mobile phones and are busy on social media such as Facebook and Tik Tok.
