Rajviraj Municipality has declared a holiday on Friday in memory of the Maleth incident in Saptari, which took place on 23rd February 2073, in which five people died.
In memory of the martyrs of the Maleth incident, it is mentioned in the statement issued by the Acting Mayor Ishrat Parveen that on Friday, non-essential services under the Rajviraj Municipality have been given leave.
As part of the Mechi Mahakali campaign launched by CPN-UML, five people were killed in police firing during a meeting organized in Maleth of Rajviraj when a clash broke out between the activists of the then Madhesi Morcha and the police. The government had declared all the five people who died in the incident as martyrs.
