Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has inquired about the incident of Rinku Sada of Siraha, who was found hanging dead in her house after being gang-raped, with the Siraha administration. He arrived in Siraha during the Madhesh public awareness campaign and got information about the incident.
He met Siraha Chief District Officer Basudev Dahal, Chief of Police Ramesh Pandit, Chief of Armed Police Naresh Bhandari and others and asked them to investigate the incident in a thorough manner. He said that there were many suspicions in Rinku's case.
After Dahal finished speaking, the chief of the police and security agencies replied that the investigation was being conducted based on the complaint received from the victim's family and that there was no pressure in the investigation process.
Dahal reached Rinku's house in Navrajpur rural municipality-1 Bhagwatipur only on Saturday morning. He also promised to bring justice to the family.
On the night of last January 27, Rinku was gang-raped by three local youths while going out to defecate. She came home crying the next morning. However, an attempt was made to resolve the incident in the village by holding a Panchayat meeting on the 29th and 30th with the involvement of the local people including ward members.
The panchayat decided to pay a fine of 140,000 from the rapist and not to let the victim go to the police. However, the victim girl was found hanging dead in her house on the evening of 30th, amid threats from the perpetrators when the panchayat was not agreed.
After the news about this incident, the police is investigating after taking a complaint against three people involved in the rape and 5 people who were involved in panchayati. Three people are under police custody during the investigation.
