Two weeks ago, Pradip Prasad Mandal, who was admitted to the Neonatal Rehabilitation (Reformation) Center at Kalaiya Sub-municipality-1 Bank Road, was brutally beaten and killed, and the absconding accused have been demanded to be brought to justice.

Shyam Prasad Dhanuk, the brother of the deceased, demanded that the two absconding accused of murdering his brother be arrested as soon as possible after being beaten up by the family members at the hall of the Bara Industry and Commerce Association in Kalaiya.

'We demand that the guilty do not escape and the innocent do not get caught. On January 17th, we kept my brother in the rehabilitation center,'  Shyam Prasad Dhanuk demanded.   Stating that there is political maneuvering to prevent the arrest of the two fugitive accused connected with the

incident, Dhanuk demanded the arrest of the accused involved in the murder of his brother as soon as possible. According to the police, two people including Sahebbabu Mansoor of Kalaiya-3, the owner of the rehabilitation center, have no contact.

32-year-old Pradeep Mandal of Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city-9 died on the night of February 1 when he refused to accept corporal punishment on charges of breaking discipline, police said.

'It is clear from the collected evidence that he was beaten in the face with punches,' Bara police chief Santosh Tamang said, 'He was beaten inside the room in the middle of the night. They were trying to make a rooster, it seems that they were beaten when they refused to become a rooster.' Mandal was placed in a rehabilitation center by the family two weeks ago. Bara police chief Tamang said that seven people who were arrested are being detained under the crime of duty killing after taking permission from the court for a seven-day extension.

The CCTV footage of the beating has been preserved by the police. In the video footage, a scene of physical torture was seen and the deceased was dragged and beaten while trying to hide under the swing of the bed.

Among those arrested are 24-year-old Arun Sarraf of Kalaiya sub-metropolis-1, 19-year-old Sagar Gupta, 21-year-old Parameshwar Sah of Ward No. 2, 19-year-old Sarfaraz Mansuri of Kalaiya-3, 22-year-old Niraj Sarraf of Ward No. 4 and 20-year-old Muhammad Angi Mian of Ward No. 3 Tamanna Mansural. In the rehabilitation center, 14 people were living with the board, apart from the supervisors and consultants.

Meanwhile, the family members and relatives of the deceased protested in Kalaiya demanding that the fugitive accused be arrested as soon as possible and brought to justice. The deceased was sent to the correctional center on the condition of paying Rs 10,000 per month. The deceased has two daughters and one son.
