Even after the contract period has passed, the work of Prasauni-Birganj 132 KV power transmission line project under construction in Parsa-Bara industrial corridor has not been completed.

This project, which is under construction with an investment of 270 million rupees by Nepal Electricity Authority, should be completed on January 18, 2025. The contract of China Railway Engineering Group of Company and Kalika Construction's joint venture has been completed so far only 85 percent.

project head Lakshminarayan Mukhia said that the deadline of 6 months has been extended to complete the remaining work. He said that the transmission line road from Birgunj's Pratima Chowk to Birgunj substation is in the working area of the Birgunj-Thori postal road project and the process of obtaining permission to proceed with the work is underway.

The head of the project said that after bringing 132/33/11 KV electricity from the substation under construction near Gandak Canal in Prasauni Rural Municipality to the authority's substation located in Birganj, there will be an increase in electricity supply in Birganj as well. He said that a transformer of 200 megawatt capacity is also going to be installed in Prasauni substation under construction.

The Parwanipur-Raxaul transmission line currently in operation has a capacity of 132 kVA while the Birganj-Parwanipur transmission line has a capacity of 66 kV. Both import of electricity from India and export of electricity to India are being done through this transmission line. The head of the project said that the demand for electricity in Parsa Bara Industrial Corridor is increasing every year and this transmission line will help.
