The incident of the death of an 80-year-old man in a fight between his relatives over Wi-Fi has come to light. The incident happened in Pokharia Municipality of Parsa.
80-year-old Ramzan Dewan, a resident of Pokharia Napa-8 Jagatpur, died in the incident. 20-year-old grandson Kabul alias Azad Dewan and 18-year-old granddaughter Khushbu Khatun have been arrested for beating their grandfather to death.
Currently, the accused siblings are in the custody of the local police office, Pokhria. The police is investigating the crime related to life by three days from the district court. Both are children of Rose Dewan . The dead grandfather Ramzan's body has been examined at Narayani Hospital Birgunj. Autopsy results are pending.
According to Swaroop Sharma, chief police inspector of Pokhria area police office, this incident happened around 4 pm on Monday. Ramadan became serious after the fight. He was admitted to Narayani Hospital Birgunj for treatment and died there during treatment.
After receiving information about the incident from the police unit of Narayani Hospital, the police team deployed from the area police office Pokhria took the accused grandchildren into custody at around 11 o'clock on Monday night. After the incident, Khatija Khatun, the wife of the deceased, that is the grandmother of the accused, filed a complaint with the police.
According to Police Inspector Sharma, the house of his daughter Dai Khatun is connected to the house of deceased Ramzan. The dispute started after the Internet Wi-Fi line in Ramzan's house was closed. Accused Azad and Khushbu had cut off the Wi-Fi line of their house alleging that their Wi-Fi password was stolen and used in Phupu Dai Khatun's house. Claiming that the Wi-Fi was being misused, they told their mother, Rabja Khatun, and Rabja started publicly abusing her anonymously.
After the sister-in-law started abusing, a fight started with the sister-in-law and Bhadabhadai of her Nanda Dai Khatun, saying that she was abusive towards her. Khatija Khatun, the wife of Ramzan, has filed a complaint alleging that the grandchild attacked the old man Ramzan who went to save his daughter, daughter-in-law and grandchild who started fighting and then Ramzan became unconscious.
Police Inspector Sharma said that after the report came in, a thorough and serious investigation is being conducted into the incident. He said that since the deceased, the complainant and the accused are all from the same family, there is pressure from the family that they will settle the case at home as it is a family affair.
"But an incident like death cannot be resolved either personally or as a family," he said.
