The headmaster of Sri Aadharbhuta Primary School has been arrested on charges of cheating. He was arrested by the area police office, Chandranigahpur, on the charge of withdrawing money for building construction from the National Commercial Bank by taking the letterpad and signature of the mayor of Chandrapur municipality.

Principal Kishori Choudhary has been arrested by the local police office on Monday for further investigation in connection with the purchase of letterpatt, stamp, challan number and signature of the city's letterhead, stamp, invoice number and signature from the money received for the construction of a four-room building of Sri Aadharbhut Primary School in Rajpada, Chandrapur Municipality-5. According to police sources, he was caught and taken into custody near Chandi Pul located in Chandrapur-5. The police said that they will investigate him by extending the deadline from the court on Tuesday.

The police had already seized all the documents said to have been made by the headmaster and started investigation . A week ago, an arrest warrant was obtained from the district court in the name of Chaudhary. Chowdhury fled after learning that an arrest warrant had been issued against him.

The National Planning Commission gave Rs 50 lakh to the municipality as a special subsidy for the construction of a four-room school building. The municipality made an arrangement so that the construction work would be paid for by the school.

The then chief administrative officer Harilal Puri sent a letter to the bank and withheld all the funds on the suspicion that the principal would embezzle the funds. The contract for the construction of the said building was taken by Brahma Baba Construction located in Chandrapur-1. He had signed an agreement on 20 June 2008 and started construction. The construction work has been completed in the first week of last June.

The municipality has found that principal Chowdhury took out 20 lakhs on 18th January 2018 and spent it for private purposes instead of paying the building contractor. According to Chandrapur municipality, Chowdhury has embezzled Rs 338,473 worth of value added tax deducted from the running bill of construction works without depositing it at the Internal Revenue Office.

Chief administrative officer of the municipality, Kirannidhi Tiwari, said that since principal Chowdhury had embezzled 20 lakh rupees without paying technical checks and bills, he had sent a written letter to the police for investigation and action. Principal Chaudhary has been claiming that he withdrew the money after the municipality released it.
