Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya and UK Government's Minister for Indo-Pacific Affairs Seema Malhotra met in Rupandehi on Saturday. During the meeting, discussions were held on the historical and friendly relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom, development partnership and development priorities of Lumbini Province.
Chief Minister Acharya said that the Lumbini Province Government is focused on sustainable, inclusive and employment-oriented economic growth. He mentioned that the goal is to transform the province's economy through product-oriented investment promotion, agricultural modernization, tourism development, industrial expansion, infrastructure construction and digital innovation.
He expressed confidence that Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, is spreading the message of peace, tolerance and compassion to the world and expressed confidence that further cooperation with the United Kingdom will be expanded in the areas of sustainable development, investment promotion, tourism development and human capital development.
The meeting discussed the effectiveness of the UK's assistance, especially in the areas of human capital development, skill development, health system strengthening, climate change adaptation, agricultural transformation, sustainable infrastructure development, good governance and digital transformation, according to the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Chief Minister Acharya expressed gratitude for the UK's continued support in Nepal's socio-economic transformation, education, health, infrastructure, disaster management and good governance reforms.
Lumbini Province Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Kapri, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Planning Commission Dr Dilliraj Aryal and others were present at the meeting.
