The extreme heat has affected public life in the Terai districts, including Banke. The roads here have started looking deserted as people are unable to go out due to the scorching sun and hot wind in the afternoon. The crowds of service recipients have started increasing at places where sugarcane juice and lassi are drunk as the heat increases.

According to Ram Prasad Awasthi, Chief of the Water and Meteorological Department, Kohalpur, the highest temperature reached 45 degrees in Nepalgunj on June 14, 2012. Recently, the extreme heat has been increasing in the Terai districts. He said that school children and daily wage laborers have been affected the most.

Awasthi, Chief of the Meteorological Department, predicted that the temperature would reach 38 to 40 degrees Celsius this evening, based on the temperature between 2:00 and 5:45 in the afternoon. On Thursday, the highest temperature of this year was 41.5 degrees Celsius. He said that the temperature has been continuously increasing since Jestha 4.

Chief Awasthi said that the temperature will be classified as hot days, extra hot days and extremely hot days, and that the temperature will be taken from Ranjha Airport and Khajura Station, apart from Kohalpur, and Nirkyaul will be reached according to the temperature.

While the heat is affecting people's lives, the locals of this area are suffering due to difficulties in electricity supply. Despite the electricity supply, fans in homes and offices are not working properly due to low voltage, while water-drawing motors and other equipment are broken, said Shivadatta Bhatta of Nepalgunj-9. Stating that they have suffered a lot due to the irregular electricity supply, he urged to solve this problem that appears every year soon.

Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Chief Engineer of Electricity Authority Center Nepalgunj Distribution Center, informed that the load on the electricity transmitted from the Kohalpur grid branch has affected the power line of Nepalgunj.

Engineer Mishra said that the problem seen in the 132/33 kV transmission line of the Kohalpur Grid will be resolved in the long term after the work on the transmission line under construction in Janaki's Bakaspur is completed.
