The Gulariya Municipality has instructed to operate schools from 6 am after the heatwave has increased over the past week. The municipality's education department has instructed to operate schools from 6 am to 11 pm.
The decision to operate classes in all schools in the city from 6 am was made by the education department chief Satish Yadav, who said that the extreme heat has adversely affected the health of students. He said that classes are being held early in the morning as the heatwave has affected public life. He said that the class operating hours will be changed after the weather improves. Currently, classes are being held from 10 am to 4 pm in the Gulariya area.
In the past week, people have stopped going out of their homes except for essential purposes due to the hot weather. The average daytime temperature has been reaching 39 to 41 degrees. The minimum temperature at 38 degrees on Friday at 11 am is reported in the bulletin of the Hydrology and Meteorology Forecasting Division. The scorching sun is shining from 8 am to 6 pm.
The extreme heat has reduced the traffic on the roads. The number of patients suffering from cough, headache, diarrhea, fever and other ailments has also increased due to the heat, said Dr. Subhash Pandey, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Gulariya. Doctors are advising people to drink plenty of water and fluids as the body sweats excessively in summer.
Daily wage laborers and farmers have been more affected by the heat. Asharam Lodh of Gulariya-9 said that he had to work in the scorching sun to earn a living. Balram Godiya of Gulariya-10, who works in the fields, said that he had to work in the middle of the heat even to light the stove at home.
