According to DSP Krishna Kumar Chand, spokesperson of the District Police Office, a joint team of the Lumbini Provincial Police Office, Dang, and the District Police has taken into custody four gamblers and 15 people involved in gambling. According to him, they are Abhay Kumar Gupta of Siddharthnagar-6, Gallamandi, Sushant Adhikari of Siddharthnagar-2, Sanjay Shakya of Siddharthnagar-13 and Nikshenda Nepal of Omsatiya-2.
Jeevan Thapa of Kathmandu, Akash Gupta, Sunari Magar, Abdul Kalam Jolha of Rupandehi, Abhishek Sharma, Shiva Pandey, Til Bahadur BK alias Rohan BK, Suraj Jayaswal, Ramesh Yadav, Nirmal Basyal and Bharat Thapa have been arrested.
According to a press release issued by the police, Netra Pokharel of Gulmi, Baburaja Maharjan of Lalitpur and Jung Kumar Agrawal of Birgunj-7 of Parsa have also been arrested. Police said that Rs 95,500, 17 mobile phones of various companies and 50 casino coins were recovered from them.
A month ago, the police raided the CMG Club Casino in Manigram, Rupandehi and arrested a Nepali citizen on charges of gambling and playing. There are about a dozen casinos, big and small, operating in Rupandehi.
