Women from the Badi community have demanded a halt to the screening of the film 'Lali Bazaar', saying that it contains material that hurts their honor and identity.

Women from the Badi community held a press conference in Ghorahi on Monday and complained that the film contains scenes and dialogues that insult the Badi community, portray it incorrectly and affect its social reputation.

In a press release issued by them, they accused the film of presenting a negative image again instead of addressing the discrimination, injustice and exploitation that the Badi community has been facing for a long time in Nepali society.

The statement expressed serious objections saying that there is an attempt to harm the identity, honor and culture of the community in the name of the film. The statement mentioned that literature has been created using derogatory words against the Badi community and material that is character assassination has been shown before, and reminded that a case has been filed in the Supreme Court against it and an order has been issued to stop such activities.

Women from the Badi community have accused the film 'Lali Bazaar' of being made in disregard of the order. Leading women from the Wadi community, including Kalti Wadi, Sitara Wadi, Asha Wadi, Chandni Wadi, Geeta Wadi, Shanta Wadi, Saraswati Wadi, Mukti Wadi, Khushi Wadi and Roshni Wadi, have signed the press release.
