Two people have died after an ambulance hit a pedestrian. An empty ambulance (Ba 0305) heading from Kohalpur to Rajapur to pick up a patient hit the pedestrians who were going to do yoga near the Division Forest Office of Gulariya Municipality-7 at 5:15 am on Sunday.
Bhumiraj Lamichhane, 55, of Gulariya Municipality-7, who was injured in the accident, was taken to a nursing home in Nepalgunj for treatment, but was declared dead by doctors. His 5-year-old grandson also died in a similar accident. His wife, 50, Sita Lamichhane, and 65-year-old Surya Upadhyay of the same place are undergoing treatment in Nepalgunj, according to police.
Police have taken the ambulance driver, 43-year-old Jagatram Tharu of Geruwa Rural Municipality-5, into custody, said Police Inspector Prakash Singh Karki.
